We were assigned to do a project that is related to the topic “pushing the boundaries” but also to the novel of Frankenstein. Eilin and I teamed up and looked at the websites Mrs Taynton put on edmodo. At first, Eilin and I wanted to do our project about cloning because it seemed interesting and Mrs Taynton put up some links to websites about the ethics of cloning, but when we took a closer look and did some research it was not as interesting as we thought it was going to be. We looked at the other research questions and became interested in another question. We thought about it for a while and researched it a bit and got interested in this question. We will do our project about the following question: “What spurs people to explore the unknown?” Then we started think about lines of inquiry and came up with these:

– Who did something to explore the unknown?

– What did they do?

– How did they do it?

– Why did they do it?

– How is this connected to the novel?

– Where did they get the idea?

We will now focus on finding answers to these questions and creating an original project.

  1. Good reflection, Margot, well done. It is important to show your thought processes in the way you have done and realise that your first idea might not always be the best. I like to see that having done a little bit of research about one aspect of the topic, finding it less interesting than you thought, you changed to something else. This is the way to learn and to be engaged in your learning: finding out for youself and doing something you are interested in.

I’m also happy to see that you are going to find out some information first before deciding on the format of your project. This is the best way of doing it: if you decide on the format first, it may not be the best way to showcase the knowledge and understanding that you gain from this project.

    Good work.
    Mrs T 🙂
